If you're looking for 100's of acres then landwatch. I've been on the search for a small piece of land. When a property becomes delinquent in tax payments, the county reclaims the property and auctions. I'm currently using landwatch.com to search for land in my home state of georgia.
Recently i've been finding more on zillow if you're looking for smaller parcels. It is high desert at 4,000 feet so the winters and summers are not terrible. One site i've seen is. But other than being careful and doing due diligence landwatch has been a great tool.
