This research compares harmonic technology and conventional techniques for a range of clinical outcomes and complications in mastectomy and bcs patients. In this study we postulate that the superior haemostatic and coagulating properties of ultracision will result in less drainage and subsequent seroma formation without increasing the morbidity.

In thisstudy, we compared the outcome between use of harmonic scalpel andelectrocautery in modified radical mastectomy. The makatimed department of surgery conducted the first heart transplant in 1994, and we were the first to use harmonic scalpel or “ultracision” for mastectomy in the philippines. Objective this study aimed to compare the mean operative time, total analgesic required, and the mean number of drainage days in harmonic scalpel versus electrocautery in breast cancer.
