Sanda i hear has some standing in places like dagestan and eastern europe but in the west it never got the same publicity. Sanda (or sanshou) for those who don’t know is essentially a type of kickboxing that originated from china.

Especially from self defense stand point.
When they first hosted sanda vs muay thai fights with their top fighters, sanda can throw muay thai fighters at will (and out of the ring!),. You can catch them with side kicks/turning sidekicks and. The art of fast strikes and fast takedowns : Sanda is the combined effort of china to make a martial art usable as they kept getting humiliated by other arts such as muay thai,judo,kickboxing,boxing and wrestling.
During the kung fu boom, folks were definitely more interested in. Sanda techniques work well sparring traditional muay thai guys, they stand very square and open down the middle.
